Hopefully it'll lead to some discourse about what actually WILL work.Deweyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00395712971920800717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3428200.post-88655412886779475412007-04-26T11:36:00.000-04:002007-04-26T11:36:00.000-04:00Look, I'm no Bloomberg fan! Obviously public transportation should be cheaper (how about free?!), and there needs to be a more comprehensive plan to radically combat global climate change. But I think city streets should be as car-free and pollution-free as possible, aside from public transportation--and I support anything trending in that direction.

Congestion pricing may not be a comprehensive solution, but it's a start.Mikhaela Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02817367214920267825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3428200.post-55990031023150104152007-04-26T09:16:00.000-04:002007-04-26T09:16:00.000-04:00Charging $8 dollars is “classist”. If you raise the fee enough the rich and fabulous will have the streets to themselves.

It really is a Band-Aid approach that may not even result in less pollution. New York needs a comprehensive plan that includes much cheaper public transportation. How about a parking tax on private parking for gas guzzlers? With the new electronic meters - couldn’t gas guzzlers be charged more for public parking, too?Woodburskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16317695881924643454noreply@blogger.com
