The guy in the last panel looks like he is checking out the transgendered woman's chest. Which has a fitting subtext, whether intended or not.
weird, that wasn't intended! but maybe it does have that effect. weird!

What really sucks is that I can put real faces to each of the people in the panels, including the guy in the last one.
Thanks Ally and others. The folks in the first three panels are total bigoted assholes, but it's the dude in the last panel--who I was sort of implying to be a transphobic gay person--who gets my goat in a particular fashion. Blech.
I just found your web page/blog, and surfed through for a while, and decided, "you rock!"
I firmly believe in leaving transgender issues out of the current "gay bill of rights." Why? Because you've got to feed tolerance to most of America in small doses. Perhaps enough of 'morica is just becoming comfortable enough with gays to say, "ok, fine go get married, queer" but if you try to attach transgender rights to it, no one's going to go for it. The neocons didn't come to power suddenly. They did it in baby steps starting way back with Nixon, and we have to take back the concept of liberty and individual rights back in baby steps.
Oh...dear.....We have equal rights in Canada....adoption, marriage,spousal rights etc.So "world leader" get with liberty and honest equality for Americans !
Vote for a Democratic person and get equality down there eh ? Peter.
Evren, I understand your concerns but I disagree. Transgender rights legislation cannot wait. There are far too many people facing brutal and pervasive--and PERFECTLY LEGAL--discrimination and abuse based on gender identity, and we cannot be patient about something so urgent. Rights movements don't win by patiently waiting for the mainstream to slowly possibly maybe decide to grant rights--sometimes you've got to demand your rights.
